Winter course – Pests and Diseases

A course for members of the public interested in bees and beekeeping. The aim is to raise the awareness of bees and other pollenators in members of the public and to act as the initial, theoretical basis for those who are interested enough to want to become practical beekeepers.

Week 5: Pests and diseases. Bees have their own pests and diseases as we do. Look at what they are and how they affect individual bees, bee colonies and the consequences for beekeeping. “Meet” the yellow legged /Asian hornet which has been in the media. Legislation – Pest and diseases control order.
